Mission Statement History Writing home from the front in 1916, Major George J. Thomson continued to be involved in all aspects of his fledgling Canadian industrial distribution business including the decision to hire a third employee. The Major considered himself fortunate to have survived the Great War that saw so many of his comrades perish. Arriving back home in Hamilton, Ontario from overseas, he immediately involved himself in company affairs and expansion plans. By 1936, George, together with partner Earl Gordon, had steered their company into manufacturing in a variety of applications where they felt their technicians could offer superior industrial products and solutions for engineers. Son, George J.V. (or Bill) came on board about this time and his management skills helped the company diversify in a period of unprecedented growth. The dynamics of expansion and diversification have always been a fact of life at Thomson- Gordon and today, the Major's grandson, Bill's son Sandy, is a very active and involved chairman overseeing 4 companies with 6 divisions and over 160 employees worldwide. Sandy as well, is producer of a new Cinema Sixteen film production business. George J. Thomson's word was as good as his bond, and since he founded the firm, written contracts have never been stronger than our word in dealing with a customer, a supplier or an employee. Through all the product innovations and business liaisons that have made Thomson- Gordon Group products respected in marine, hydro-electric and other industrial circles, one thing hasn't changed; positive, strong working relationships with customers, distributors and employees are the cornerstone of every endeavor, through every business transition. |
